Basic Off-piste Skiing Course In The Italian Alps

Full Description

You are a good skier and are ready for a new challenge; to learn the technique to ski confidently off-piste. We will help you on your first steps, develop the techniques on easy off-piste runs and then slowly move into the longer and more rewarding off-piste itineraries. Together we will plan a custom made program according to your level, your needs and the amount of days in the resort.

We offer guiding and off-piste instructing for private groups and individuals at all levels. Mountain Guides Italy works in key areas in the Italian Alps: Passo Tonale, Gressoney, Courmayeur, Andermatt, Maritime Alps. We suggest that you wait until last minute to book your accommodation. We will let you know where the best conditions are a week before your reserved dates.

Example Itinerary

It is for you and your guide to decide the exact makeup of your booking however, these itinerary days shown below are an example of how a booking for this activity could be structured.

Day 1 : Off-piste skiing technique and basic avalanche rescue training	We will spend the day skiing using the lift system on some of the easy off-piste itineraries. We will be working on your technique with video analysis. At some point we will make a break and make a practical introduction to the safety aspects involved in off-piste skiing.
Day 2 : Off-piste skiing technique, intermediate avalanche rescue training and orientation skills	Today we will be fine tuning your off-piste technique and introducing the next step in avalanche safety. We will also familiarise with some orientation skills that are always useful in the case of bad weather.
Day 3 : Off-piste trip	It is only your third day but we are all ready going for a full day off-piste trip! We will plan the trip together, based on your level and experience.

Prerequisites

For skiers who want to venture further away from the pistes, improve their off-piste skiing technique and learn something about the safety aspects of the mountains in Winter. You should be able to ski on black runs, on all types of snow. On all our programs snowboarders and telemarkers are welcome.

Equipment Required

Technical equipment (these items can be rented): off-piste skis, avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe, backpack.
