Snow avalanches are arguably the biggest risk facing the winter skier or rider. Understanding avalanche risk, avalanche terrain, weather factors and companion rescue are essential skills. Recognizing avalanche terrain and making informed decisions are cornerstones of recreational avalanche training. During our Avalanche Awareness courses, you will learn about the causes of avalanches, understanding avalanche bulletins, route planning in avalanche terrain, risk reduction, safer travel techniques, what to do if caught in an avalanche, effective use of transceivers, shovels and probes and organising a simple rescue.
